    Small houses 1 & 2

Not sure what happened to the picture, so I’ll try it again.

To those who have finished your houses: Did you square up the fabrics before cutting the strip width needed? I am afraid of running out of fabric based on how much I would need to cut off to square up some of the pieces.

Barbara mentioned before that you DO NOT need to square up before cutting the strips because it would be cut into so many little pieces. HelenW

No reason to square up fabrics for the buildings. Cut the first strip, approximately 3.5” wide, work from it as needed. You will not run out of any of the building fabric strips in this first month, for sure. Eventually, you will cut another strip and that one will be squared up already.

Finally able to start stitching my wool felt houses after picking up 2 dozen yummy colors of Valdani thread. Some solid colors and lots of variegated.

These are my first two houses. Since I can’t stitch these to my TBD whole cloth linen background until after the compass is done, perhaps later, I’m limited to basically doing doors and windows. Lots of fun embellishment to come. The house on the left is my childhood home. Hoping to add the flowering crabapple tree in our front yard.

I have used solids from my stash as the kit wouldn’t have arrived till at least February in Australia. Also the $100 postage was a turn off. I am happy with the look so far. I think I will change the background to a littler shade of the same fabric for the tall house ring.
