Ruler
I have discovered that my numerous rulers are too large or hard to read for dealing with these small pieces of fabric. Can anyone recommend a good size, readable ruler that makes it easy to see the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 marks? I am wondering about a 3x12 size. Thanks so much for any suggestions.Tags: None

Re: ruler. I'm having good luck with my 6x6 Omnigrid, also use 6x12 Omingrid. The Quilter's Select 5x5 works well too. It's a matter of getting use to the rulers you're use to using, not having to buy more. It has helped to cut 3 and half inch strips as Barbara suggested and work with those as most of the cuts work off of 3 1/2 " lengths. It makes it more manageable. There is an "Adjustment Curve" on this project, quite different than what many of us are used too. I'm having to Adapt, but am getting over the hump. Stay with it All !

For cutting when doing the piecing, use the add a quarter ruler found on the Quilt Show shop. If they are out you can buy at your LQS or order online. Definitely worth the money for paperpiecing.Originally posted by "plcasassa" post=152772I have discovered that my numerous rulers are too large or hard to read for dealing with these small pieces of fabric. The Add a Quarter and Add an 1/8 rulers are must haves if you do a lot of paper piecing. I would compare to using scissors or a rotary cutter. The right tool for the job!!HelenWOriginally posted by "sewmarti" post=152781For cutting when doing the piecing, use the add a quarter ruler found on the Quilt Show shop. My two favorite brands are Quilters Select and Creative Grids, both have coating on the back that reduces slipping. My go-to size for paper piecing is a square, 6.5” or 6”.Originally posted by "plcasassa" post=152772I have discovered that my numerous rulers are too large or hard to read for dealing with these small pieces of fabric. Good rulers and sharp rotary cutting blades are essential.

LesMorris, I love this post! Any skill we learn takes time and practice. Expecting perfection from the beginning is asking too much. Just press on and expect improvement.Originally posted by "LesMorris" post=152773Re: ruler. I'm having good luck with my 6x6 Omnigrid, also use 6x12 Omingrid. The Quilter's Select 5x5 works well too.
