I found the use of a stitch in the ditch foot very helpful . I completed my small house# 1’s . I connected to friend who is also doing this BOM . We are excited to make some changes that reflect us

thanks so much for posting this photo. I had been wondering what livelier house fabrics would look like. This may change what I do in that I'll think about "peppering" some livelier ones with my solids. Appreciated seeing the background you used with the busier houses as well. It's going to look great!

I love your background fabric. What is a stitch in the ditch foot?

I saw the youtube video today about making the first blocks. I noticed that a difficult part could be placing the triangles in the correct spot so the fabric, once sewn would completely cover the area needed. I was thinking surgaridoo's little handmade tool for doing stitch and flip blocks might help. I hope it helps some of you.

Marti a stitch in the ditch foot is much like a 1/4 foot . It has a guide just like the 1/4 foot but it’s aligned with the center needle . I hope this answer your question

Yes, Marti, the Bernina Edgestitch foot is the 10. I am going to try this too to see if I like it better.

I finished my first house. Though the windows are a bit off I love it! For me, adding a little glue with the first piece is a better way to go. Even though I ironed it well without the glue they kept slipping because they are so little. Hence the odd window.

It took a while, but I finally figured this out. As a newbie, the first house was a challenge but I think I am finally getting the hang of it. These are my first 3 small house #1 that I completed today.

I used the 34d foot for my first house and it worked great. I just ran the red line along the edge of the paper and my seams were perfect. Now if I could just keep that first piece from slipping! I’m going to try a little glue on the next house.

Finished all my small houses #1. Used the freezer paper piecing method for the first time. Only sewed through the freezer paper twice. I did use a couple of pins on each unit to make sure the freezer appear held - just moved the pins away from where I needed to press each time. Fabrics by Kaffe Collective and sunflower grunge background.
