    " stands for inches
    ' stands for feet (although you don't see this much for quilts)

      thanks a lot Nancy ! but I see what happens : I was questionning about &quot? and when I sent the question it's only " which appears....
      so what is &quot after a number : I see that in the BOM forum ? or is it just this " for inches ?

        I see what is it !!! when I type what you can see here in the subject case in the text of my question, it disappeared and is replaced by " (which is inches) ! I Wonder why it's not the same thing in the text of the exchanges between ladies in the BOM forum.....may be because there is a number just before ?......

          I'm not sure what you're seeing in the BOM forum. Maybe you can ask the question there, and quote one of the messages where you see it? Or maybe someone else has seen what you're asking about?
