MONTH 9 - Weathervane Block
"my way" - with flying geese.
2" x2" center square
3-3/4" square - Geese
4 squares 2-1/4" background (geese background)
4 squares 1-1/4" (color)
4 rectangles 2" x 1-1/4"
4 squares 1-1/4" (background)
4 squares 2-1/4" each (color and background) - this is oversized, for the HST.
Make the flying geese using the 3-3/4" square, and two 2-1/4" squares, tracing a line 1/4" away from the diagonal line.
Sew on each line, and cut in the middle.
Press towards the two triangles.
Trace a line 1/4" away from the diagonal on another 2-1/" square, and align on the triangle.
Sew on each line and cut in the middle. Press.
Then, align the 45 degree line on the seam, and 1/4 inch mark on the "point". Cut the excess.
Cut the flying geese 2" x 1-1/4".
Prepare the HST as usual, and cut to 1-1/4" square.
Place all the pieces.
To ensure that all the seam allowances will "nest", this is how I did:

Month 11- SAWTOOTH block
Well, I do not have the cutting measurements... I have used EQ7, and paper-pieced the block. If anyone needs the Template, let me know - send me an email.
I'm presently working on the final border. I think my measurements are accurate, but I will complete it before I post anything on this, just to be sure.

Thanks Andree!
I'd originally planned a Christmas theme but it turned into something more whimsical. The top/bottom borders took a couple days hopefully the applique blocks will be faster. Month 7's applique has a tiny pieced friendship star that looks a little challenging in half size.

FINAL BORDER
Once all the blocks are assembled, there is one simple 1/2" finished "plain border" all around. At this point, the quilt measures 38-1/2" x 28-1/2" from raw edge to raw edge.
You will need 66 "flying geese" blocks and 4 "four-patch" for the corners. Each measures 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".
Here is how I did each "flying geese" block. It's oversized, and then cut to correct measurement for accuracy.
I used strips at 1-3/4"in each colors.
1 rectangle 2-1/2 x 1-3/4 (for the "outside part" (not shown)
1 rectangle 2-7/8 x 1-3/4 for the "geese"
2 squares 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 for the "sky"
Draw a diagonal line non each squares.
place a square at the end of the 2-7/8 rectangle. Sew on the line.
Cut the seam allowance to 1/4".
Press seam allowance towardsthe "sky" and place the 2nd square at the other end. Sew on the line.
Cut the seam allowanceto 1/4"
Press towards the "sky" (outside).
Next post - how to cut.
