left handed?
Just thought I would post this question for fun. I an right handed and while binding a quilt (due to a leg Pain) I changed to use my left leg on the sewing pedal.........made me wonder..
do left handed folk normally use sewing pedal wth left leg too. silly question I know, Change of foot did not stop me getting the binding done (the cats do).Tags: None

I'm left handed, but use my right foot for the pedal - just like the gas pedal in the car. Otherwise, I tend to be left-footed. I have an ergonomic left-handed rotary cutter.
My mom taught my sister (also lefty) and me to knit when we were kids (oh, lots of crying and frustration), but glad I learned to do it right-handed so I don't have to adjust patterns. My biggest pet peeve are soup ladles that can only be used with the right hand! I use my right hand for the computer mouse, although I once switched my mouse for the left hand at work until my boss tried to use it one time and told me to switch it back. We lefties live in a right dominated world, so we learn to go with the flow most of the time.

I know you asked about what left-handed people do... I'm right handed and often use the right foot on the pedal when sewing. However, when I do a lot of applique work, I keep my left foot on the pedal so that might right leg is free to hit the knee lift so that I don't have to go back and forth from pedal to knee lift and back with the same leg.

I'm a lefty as well. I use my right foot for the sewing pedal, but I do use my mouse with my left hand. I didn't switch the buttons, I use the middle finger of my left hand to click it. I use scissors left handed, but when I'm eating, I cut with my right hand. I don't go through the silly changing fork hands like most Americans, I eat with my left hand.
And don't get me started on scissors! Ours are more rare, and they usually cost more!!

Rosemary - Most right handed Americans eat with fork in their right hand, but they use the knife in the right hand when they cut, so they have to switch the fork to the left hand when cutting. As a lefty, my fork is in my left hand when eating and I use the knife in my right hand to cut, so no switching necessary and much more efficient!
