    Lighting

Am getting ready to set up a new sewing room. Have used overhead halogen light bars in the past. Good light but very warm. Anyone tried anything else with success? LED? Other?

I have a track with spotlights which have LED bulbs in them. The LED bulbs give off very good light and they don't get hot like the previous spotlights did. Also, LED lights use less energy and have a longer life so they are more eco-friendly I guess. Good luck with the new sewing room. We would love to see some photos when you are done.

I have been gradually replacing most of the lighting in my house with LED. They can provide a lot of good cool light and they don't damage fabrics either.

When I was building my house, I did some research. I have full spectrum fluorescent tubes in my sewing room. The full spectrum tubes are like "ott lites." If true color is an issue I would recommend this option. The lighting is cool and also inexpensive. You can get them at the big box Home improvement stores.

I am about to get full spectrum light tubes for my studio sewing space and will need 2 sets of 2 long bulbs because the spread of light is not enough i.e. the light falls strait down only. What I mean here is the pool of light and it also depends how high your ceilings are.
