Gosh, it is hard to believe June is about over. I too have been busy. I finished the top of a quilt we started at our guild. It is a big block quilt and went very fast. I ran out of the pinecone fabric I was using so inserted a piece of the contrast fabric in the center. I am going to monogram an initial in the contrast fabric to make it look like that is the way it should be. I will post pictures later. I am almost finished with a top I started last October. It is a Donna Lynn Thomas pattern, Delectable Mountains. A variation of her Mountain Home design. I am still working on the border. I need to make two more quilt tops and get all of them quilted before Christmas.
That is enough, but we put out a large garden and I am expected to do most of the picking, canning and freezing of the produce. Then there are the family reunions (3 this summer), babysitting, and a vacation trip to Ohio and northern Michigan in July.
Today we took our SIL and his two little ones to the zoo in St. Louis. Wonderful day, but I am really tired.
Forgot about a baby quilt I quilted for a friend's daughter's benefit. There are just not enough hours in the day to do it all. I am so happy I have things to do that I enjoy. I feel for the people who have no hobbies or responsibilities to keep them busy. I don't think I will ever not have something that I need, or want, to do. Energy now, is another matter.

Would it work having a size and then choosing our own method from the selection?

            Wow! Beautiful quilts!!!

Been busy with the kids, since the end of May when they finished school. Not much quilting wise, other than a block here and there for some charity/donation quilts. A nine patch swap. And a monthly block for an online bee.

A good friend from the quilting group I belonged when living in Springfield, Missouri, made a self portrait quilt, with blocks made by the members of the group. Although I've been gone for a while, we stayed in touch and she asked me to participate. After a couple of tries with fabric, I decided that a machine embroidered outline worked best. Here's the block I made (she provided the background fabric). When we attended my DFIL funeral, in Springfield, last May, I had the opportunity to meet with her and saw the finished top. She was getting ready to get the quilting done. I'm looking forward to see the finished quilt.

A house block swap sounds grate Rita! Been wanting to make a house quilt for a while.

              Betty Jo,
I love the Electric Quilt house pattern unfortunately I do not have E Q but I love the variety of the houses and I love a challenge so may have to look into buying EQ.

So many ideas. Wendy's thought re individual choice and uniform size is something to think about. Lambinia's self-portrait is very fascinating. I love her self-portrait and I would love having them from TQS friends. So many ideas to ponder.

I like Wendy's idea, too. If we all make the same block, then I don't think it should be from a book. I would hate for someone to not participate because they don't have the book. So, instead, I think it should be a free download from somewhere or a block that one of us designs and puts in a PDF.

Wendy, I think that is a great idea of coming up with a size for the block and everyone making whatever house they want. I agree that someone shouldn't have to buy a book to participate. Other than the hst exchange, I have never done an exchange so don't know how this would work?

Not sure who asked about how to run exchanges, but here are some of my thoughts on the subject from a while back http://forum/friendship-triangle-exc...g-an-exchange-

Anne, I would not like to do without my Electric Quilt. If you can, I encourage you to get it. It takes all the math fear out of making quilts. I used it for my storm at sea wave, using Carol Doak's paper piecing method and one of EQ's blocks. I use it to help me figure out how to quilt things, make pictures of my quilt designs, and figure out color choices.

I'm so happy to see so many of my TQS buddies respond to my initial question. It's like a party. 8)

BJ I forgot to say that your quilt is stunning, It is fascinating to see what you have done with the Jacobean picture, which I recall you show us many moons ago.

From the responses, we are all busy. I have had a couple od interesting years--moved my mom into a nursing home, been extremely busy at work with little time or energy for quilting, dealing with some health issues, best and biggest --- became a grandma last year. While recuperating from surgery started this years BOM. Then fell last week, breaking my wrist, another surgery and not able to use my arm.

loved seeing everyone's work, you are a very talented group, feel I have learned much from you. Like the idea of a house block exchange, please keep me posted.

Wow, Pat, that's a lot on anyone's plate for one year! I hope your wrist gets better soon! and congrats on becoming a grand ma-ma!
