Hi, everyone! The answer to my "where is everyone" question is "painting"! DH and I are renovating a 1920s farmhouse. We had a contractor to do most of the work, but we thought we could handle all the interior painting...hah! Spent most of the last 2 months painting, and still lots of trim work left to go. Barely touched a sewing machine all summer. Anyway, the rest of the painting will get done a bit at a time, so we can get back to normal life.

On the quilting front, I've challenged myself to finish the 2013 BOM by Sept 19, so I can submit it to the AQS show in Albuquerque. Still lots of quilting to go...think I can make it?

Haven't been able to read all the posts I've missed (!), but I'm glad to see that Margo got her sewing mojo back! The "force" has been restored in the quilting universe!

Thanks Beverly! I have six of the houses finished. We had an ugly fabric challenge at my guild. Everyone brought a yard of ugly fabric wish was passed around and divided in half each time it was passed to the next person. We each ended up with a half yd. piece, 1/4 yd, 1/8, etc. The last pieces were about 4 inches square. We were to use each fabric and make something to show at our picnic. The houses were perfect for using the small pieces and it was so much fun. I need to get some more background fabric to finish the quilt. We were allowed to use other fabric also, but some of all the ugly ones were to be included. The ugly fabrics were not really ugly though. I had read somewhere that if the fabric was ugly it wasn't cut small enough.

Everyone sounds very productive. I must admit I haven't been keeping up with this topic as often as I would like since I first started it off. I think it is only fair for me to tell you what I've been doing this past little while. I have really gotten busy lately. Since my grandson has just entered middle school, it was decided in a family council that it was time to shift him from his after school caretaker, who had several new babies and really young kids, to me. It's fun and not burdensome, except that it has cut into my quilting time. Although I will say it has forced a kind of schedule that may end up being more productive for me. Sew here is what I have been doing this past few months:

I made a couple of outfits and did some altering and repairing of clothes for this fall and for me to wear to Houston. I decide to go this year (my first time) since my quilt "Sky Horse" is in the show and "Perspective in Threads" is in the Tactile Architecture special exhibit there. I finished this project except for making a belt I want to make to go with my dressy outfit. I also have an additional alteration or two, but those are minor.

I was happy to have been asked to make a quilt for a special exhibit in Road to California that is due in January. 8) It's just a small quilt, but figuring out how to design it was a really big challenge. Once I did that, I was off and running and I already have the top finished. It has a lot of negative space, due to the topic, and I'm now trying to figure out how in the world to quilt that. :?

I also have been keeping up my personal blog: http://www.blog.bjfabricartist.com/, having just published a post on machine applique, and I have been helping my youngest son market his new books: http://www.fennecfoxpress.com/my-books.html, since getting his writing career well-launched is so very important for both his future and mine.

The weather here in northern Virginia is exquisite this week, and so I've tried to get out a little bit everyday even if it is just to wander around the yard and sit on the deck.

Hugs to all my friends out there in TQS land. I love this site and hope it goes on and on and on.
