    Best needle turn appliqué´book?

    Hello friends -
A member of of our local quilting community recently passed away. I am in charge of purchasing a book in her memory for our local library. Since she was a master at needle turn appliqué, I thought that would be an ideal subject for the book. Is there a book on this subject that is head and shoulders above the rest of the slew of books? What title do you recommend? Thanks for your assistance!
    Best wishes,
    Mike

I took a class from Nancy Chong, who designs Hawaiian quilts. I am not an expert on who's who in the applique world, but here is her website. She sells a book with a DVD.

    She teaches on line here:

Elly Sienkiewicz is very famous for her intricate Baltimore Album quilts using needle turn applique. I haven't read any of her books yet since she is way beyond my ability level, but she is who I would consider to be the top name in intricate needle-turn applique. For other beautiful needle-turn that is accessible by the novice, I would look at Piece of Cake and Karen Kay Buckley. I've had classes from Karen and she is incredible!

What Nancy said. I have a couple of books and DVDs from Elly Sienkiewicks. They're great to learn needle turn appliqué.

Another excellent how-to is Liuxin Newman: http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Hand-A.../dp/0957892721

She gives very clear, step-by-step instructions for turned-edge applique, and has useful tips to help you successfully accomplish detailed applique and sharp points. Her book is ideal for both novices and experienced users.
