Reading Quilter's Catalog by MEG COX
No I am not getting much quilting done... never do during the week... but I am reading Quilter's Catalog... I can hardly put it down. Just packed full of interesting information.
I am going to visit all the web pages she has listed in the book and post them on my web site. So far they have been diverse and I like seeing things that inspire.
Have any of you read this book?

Anna,
I just bought the book a couple of weeks ago, had it spiral bound, and the cover covered in plastic to make it a little more "hard" it sure helps when you pick it up to read. Have not read much of it, sure looks like it has loads of good info [quilting]. Not enough time in a day.

I agree.I've been slowly working my way through this book for a few months now.I could have just devoured it but am deliberately making it last. And, yes it is really heavy!I have arthritis in my hands and have to either sit at a table to read it or if I'm on the couch I rest it on a pillow in my lap! But,great book, jam packed with info and well written. If you don't own this book, you must put it on your short list of books to buy. I got it today and it is darn near impossible to put down. Love the way Meg writes. It is like she is sitting across from you having a casual conversation. There is so much wonderful information in this book! Wow...I can't say enough positive comments about it.

My Dad gave me that book for my birthday-- he's NOT usually the gift-shopper-- but he read a review and was so taken with the fact that she was a reporter for the Wall STreet Journal! And truly, the difference in being a professional writer AND a quilter really shows through. I don't have a problem with other quilt books, but they're usually written by quilters, not writers (and every now & then you get one you think might be written by a writer but they don't know quilting!)
anyway, I'm with the rest of you, you can't put it down! It's chock full of info so I know I'll go back to it over & over but I found myself reading every word of sections that I otherwise might not have any interest in, just b/c it's so good.

I am over half done reading page to page no skipping... what amazes me is all the online sites she is posting... some I knew and a lot are allll new to me... I can not wait to try them out.
I am thinking of making a links web page as I try out all the links... that is a lot of work but it will be well worth it.

I have one complaint about this book besides I can not put it down...
Meg Cox list numerous quilting stars who have enhanced quilting in the past but she has not mentioned Quilters to WATCH for in the future. Most of the quilters she has mentioned have been in quilting 25-30 years and are in their 50s and 60s. She has only mentioned a few that are younger.... I want to know who the up and coming future quilting stars are... Maybe that will be her next book...
