Spoonflower suggestions
Carrie, Marion is right. Quite a few years ago (maybe 15?) I made a wedding anniversary quilt for my husband that included our letters to each other and marriage certificate. I did the print on fabric at an office kind of store and also some on my home printer. I think that would work out well for your Mom's notes too. The products are so much better now. Several of the blocks on mine have cracked and are stiffer than what we can get now.Originally posted by "theothermarion" post=138144You could photograph them and then print them out on fabric. Should be much cheaper!Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

I know a few of you have ordered fabric from spoonflower. I saw a random post on another forum and I had a wonderful idea. When my mom passed in January 2015, I couldn't bear to throw away all her 'scraps of wisdom'. (Well, I did toss the gardening wisdom!) She would write notes to herself on scraps of paper. These were either from inspirational articles, movies, which she loved, the bible, or random things she read or heard on tv. She was a very positive person & tried to surround herself with positivity. I want to somehow get some of these onto fabric. I know somewhere I have her signature too. I could make throw pillows for some family members & friends, use it as a neutral in any number of quilts. LOL When I read the spoonflower FAQs, my eyes glazed over. Talks about dpi and how big your print will be based on that.
I had originally thought to create a scrapbook to keep them in. This is still just a churning thought in my head. I am so behind in all areas of my life right now.

Carrie, what a wonderful treasure you have. My Mother passed away when I was 13, and I didn't have a chance to get such words of wisdom from her. I don't know much about Spoonflower, so can't help you there. I think I would make copies of each, put the originals into a scrapbook and then use the copies to make the Spoonflower fabric. When you do make something, be sure to show us. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Lovely idea. I think either scan them in, if you have a scanner, which would show them the best, or photograph them and then print them out and arrange them nicely and scan or photograph the arrangement for printing on fabric. If you have an ink jet printer, you can print them yourself on prepared fabric (I use Electric Quilt printer fabric, which comes all ready to put into your printer and takes the ink well).
