    Need quilting ideas

Here’s the top I finished for my 20 year old grandson. I would like to try quilting it myself but I don’t have too much experience.
I designed the quilt around the eagle pass panel.
Any ideas for simple machine quilting, or should I send it to long arm quilter? Janet

You could do a diagonal cross hatch grid across the entire top—I would use a ruler foot .Or you could use thread that matches the light background and quilt swirly lines all over the background. Quilt around the eagles and in the pieced borders, using thread close to those fabrics. The more you quilt, the better you will get. You can do this.

Thanks Barbara, maybe outline quilting the eagles and stones in the panel, then grid quilting the rest of the quilt would work. Thanks for the ideas. Janet

You can put wavy lines through the middle panel to suggest the wind. Those are really easy! Except you start and stop.

Thank you, would you tie the ends when starting and stopping or just the tiny stitches. Janet

            I just do tiny stitches.

It depends on what you want, you can make parallel lines across the panel. But if you don't care about parallel, then you stitch back and forth kind of like a wavy zigzag.

Thanks for your ideas. I am thinking I will quilt the panel by outlining each segment ,ie eagles, trees(fill in branches) rocks etc.
Wavy or swirly lines in the sky. Then grid quilt the rest of the quilt. Thanks again Janet
