Never heard of this so I googled it.
Two versions - with or without stitch regulator. Oh my, that is so cool!
Also comes in two sizes: original 7x9" - about $100 on e bay without stitch regulator or about $200 with the regulator.
Newer 12x12" size about $549 online.
    Found this video on YouTube:

Have a question? Which one would you prefer? Small one or big one , with or with out stitch regulator? Does that depend on the kind of the machine.

      Thanks :S

Looks like it would be great for small projects. Wonder how it works for large quilts. I am interested in knowing how people like it.

Like you say Lois, looks good, especially for small or detailed work. Would love to have a try on one.

This would be a product I would like to try before I buy. Surprised it's not been demo'ed at quilt shows.

I would prefer the larger size with the stitch regulator, but that's a lot of money to put down without driving first.

What size is usable probably depends on the harp space of your sewing machine. If you have a short harp space, you probably can't use the larger one, or at least wouldn't get any benefit from it. But that's just a guess on my part. I don't know anything about this product.

I purchased a Fab-U-Motion back in 2008. It says it's only compatible with a Pfaff Creative Vision which I purchased at the same time. I see that the name has changed to Free Motion Assistant and it's now compatible with other machines. It's also a lot less expensive now, although I did get a good deal on mine at the time when it retailed for $1299 with stitch regulator. The box says "Simply slide it on, plug it in, and stitch!". I can tell you that is not so!!! I did try it out a couple of times but can't give you an honest opinion because I didn't put much effort into learning how to use it. It's been in my closet for the past 6 years and since I have a longarm machine now, that's where it will stay until I can find someone to give it to or find a lot of free time to see how it works. I can see using it for thread play on small projects, but you could probably do that just as easy without it if you are familiar with free motion quilting.

I have a Bernina machine but as well a Husqvarna Viking RUBY embroidery machine, I have a Fab-u-motion with the stitch regulator. The stitch regulator of the fab-u-motion is not efficient at all, I do not like it BUT I like very much the Fab-u-motion, it helps a lot for the free motion quilting, we do not move the quilt but only the frame of the fab-u-motion under the quilt, the quilt is moving very very easly under the needle of the machine, without any effort, It is very difficult to explain how it works but I have quilted a very large quilt 2,50 m x 2,50 m,1 m = 39inches.(go on Youtube - Fab-U-motion) You can use this Fab-u-motion only on Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff machines, and not on all type of Viking and Pfaff machines I suppose. The height of the arm of the machine is very important, I cannot use it on my Bernina, the arm is too high. I hope it helps.

Hi, I am not sure you have the choice about the size of the Fab-u-motion, all depends if you have a new generation sewing machine with a wide space on the right of the arm of your machine. As I wrote under, I do not like the stitch regulator, mine was not efficient at all, it is making the movement not smooth at all. I never use the stitch regulator and it is perfect without. The Youtube demo hereover is very good and true.

                      Hi,
I am looking at one of these (manual version) - very cheap to see how it would go. I have 4 old bernina machines, 930, 1031. I think the others are a 801 and 830 but all stored at present. They seem to be very old and not too popular but at the price, if it fits, it's worth a try.
Do you think it would fit any of those? I found out that Husqvarna/Viking bought out the company so not sure if about compatibility prior to 'take over'.
                      Any help greatly appreciated.
                      Thanks.

I live in Charleston, SC area. If anyone in this area wants to try one out, I have one. I used it with my Viking 500 (very old I know). I could only use a portion of it because my harp opening doesn’t accommodate the entire available space. Let me know if you are in my area and would like to see just how it works.
