      Hello,
I also bought one of those foot mats for my carpeted floor... it didnt work either. I like the idea SuperJudy's granddaughter had best - probably the easiest and my trash can is nearby. It will only take one quick move and no more $. Thanks SuperJudy!

I did try my mouse pad under the foot yesterday. It worked--of course it hasn't been there long enough for the dog hair to make a difference but we will see.

Good to know Ritzy. Now I have to just go out and buy one - or a silicone baking sheet. I had an idea that I might flatten out a silicone cup cake case but I must have given them away too. I suppose they will jump out of a cupboard at me as soon as I come home with the mouse pad and baking sheet.

you can buy in continent store non sleep pad for mobile phone on dash board on the car or non sleep pad for closet in the kitchen, cut it to the right size, and voila! you got it and doesnt cost a lot of money too. success

Rosemary, EPP? I am reading all these ideas and continue to say bad words to my contrary foot pedal which seams ( ) to have a mind of its own. When you guys come up with the 5 star solution I'll hop on the wagon.

                    Yep, English Paper Piecing.

I'm working on a sample to show that there is more to EPP than just plain old hexagons - actually it is for the girls over at threadbias.com, but I was planning on putting it on my blog as well. One of them didn't believe me when I posted this and said that I had made it by EPP. They thought that it was applique.
So I had to show them the back as wellGood job I haven't finished or quilted it
The numbers are about 1 1/4" tall. I got back to the technique after seeing the V&A quilt exhibition & the 1718 coverlet held by the Quilters Guild of GB.

Very interesting! I look forward to your blog to see how it's done. Maybe it's just because I don't know much about EPP, but I never would have thought to have one piece completely encompassed by another. I'm very curious to see how that's done. Thanks!

How it is done - carefully, I haven't exactly chosen the best design for the technique and have had to use Fray Check for some of the inside corners.

Very interesting approach Rosemary, I will look forward to the blog too.

Meanwhile, back to the foot pedal.... Well I couldn't find a mouse pad while I was in a nearby town this morning but I did find something that has really worked! A bath mat! They just arrived into Penneys - a memory foam bath mat. Velour on one side and a rubberized back. I put some velcro on the back of the foot pedal (the rougher side of the velcro) so that it sticks to the velour. The rubberized underside of the mat means that it isn't going anywhere. And I have a nice soft cushion for my heel and my other foot to rest on. PROBLEM SOLVED.
