    Organizing

I am getting ready to redo my closet for all of my quilting supplies and fabric. Would love to hear ideas you have found helpful to get things organized.

Plastic bins of all sizes. Larger bins for fabric by color, smaller bins for precuts, trimmings, ribbons, projects in process, etc....

Have fun and show us a picture!

Transparent plastic bins so you can quickly reference what is in them. Magazine folders (stand up and can besought at office supply stores) for patterns and mags you want to keep.

Do you just stack these or do you have cubbies or shelves. What do you do with scraps, by color???

I got this idea from Quilter's Newsletter a long time ago

Fold fabric in half (or not, if you have fat quarters)
Wrap it around your 24 inch ruler
Fold it in half the long way again.
Now it stacks and it mostly the same width! There is a picture in my profile.

For scraps, the boxes work very well.

I think one of the most important things that you need to do is measure the inside of your closet & figure out out what is is the largest rack that you can put in there. Take down any hanging poles or shelves in there that you don't really need. I bought a large metal shelving from Home Depot or Lowes, they have adjustable shelves, I use that for my fabric closet as well as those long bins meant for under the bed.
