Yup they have a quilt / sunshade but they really need a wooden barn block. I've got some paints just need to filch some wood. My husbands always moaning my chicken garden looks like Steptoes yard, I think it looks fun and creative

I've been lurking in the background, while staying focused on my Hoffman Challenge. The top is finished, sandwiched, and I am now quilting it on my domestic machine. Around all 500 feathers! And, am totally enjoying the process.........so far! Here is the top, before being sandwiched.

About a month ago, I had a bump show up on my leg (over night!) and as I watched it grow for a week, I became concerned and went to the doctor. She did a biopsy, and long story short it was a skin cancer, and I had a deep chunk if my leg cut out and stitched up. I look like Frankenstien! The stitch line is over 2" long, as sore as he**!

Also, my DH has a nasty procedure/surgery next week that will make him uncomfortable for 3 months. But, the alternative is not an option. He is a very private person, so I cannot give more details than that. But, I worry, about an infection, since that has happened in the past, and I almost lost him from it. AND.........he is a really bad patient!!! I have a feeling there won't be much peace in this house for a couple of weeks!

Dawn what a stress for you. Thank goodness you have quilting to keep you sane. The bird is beautiful but so much work!

I wish you both well, you'll make a lovely Frankenstein. There's always trousers or fish net tights. Hope things get better

Dawn, your quilt is amazing! I'm impressed! Keep on enjoying the process. It will help with the worries.

In 2011 I had a large cancer cut out of my face. (On the left lower cheek.) Ugh! It was horrible. I'm happy to say, you can hardly tell now. Sure there is a scar, but it's not a big deal. I think of it along the lines of my crow's feet and laugh lines. It is proof I'm living my life! I hope all goes well with your husband. I'll send a prayer....

Enjoy your barn blocks everyone! I had a blast making mine. And it looks so cool on the "barn". Please post pictures!

Thank you all, for your well wishes and prayers! I was able to go for a walk yesterday (the rains finally let up for a while) and all went well. For the first few days I was unable to lift my leg for stairs, or up onto the ottoman. Too much cutting into the muscle. But, Wendy, I don't have to worry about anyone seeing it, because it is in the middle of my thigh, and I haven't exposed that area for years!!

Marilyn, I love your garden and barn blocks. BIG barn blocks! Very cool. And, I enjoy hand work, too, so enjoyed seeing your black work and felt work.

Yeah, Geneva, the face is quite common around here, and in our guild, for skin cancer. I guess because that area is always exposed. My husband had it there, my roommate for our last quilt retreat showed up with a long line of stitches just above the jaw line, and a past guild president has had two different ones removed from her face. I'm proud of my oldest daughter for always slathering the sun screen on her kids and making them wear hats when they are outside. (They are redheads.)

I had a hard time holding my tongue in the doctors office! I was told they were going to do a running stitch to close me up. What? When they finished I did inform them that, in the quilting and sewing world, we called that a whip stitch. The nurse said it was done like a baseball. Nope, wrong again! The stitching on a baseball only looks the same. The needle enters the leather from the top (or maybe the bottom) on both sides coming up through the middle each time. Hmmmmmmm.....wonder what that stitch is called. It's pretty cool!

Well, it's back to the bird. Thank you for your kind comments on it. You ladies are the best!
