Geneva, my quilt is 6" x 9". I started by cutting 1" strips and making the pink and purple 4 patches, then started to make the blue and green 9 patches and then found I should have spent more time at the planning stage as I then either had masses of 'y seams' or 'undo it' stitch to do   :blush:Geneva

Yes, thank you, Alex and Ricky and all our friends that span the TQS world who have congratulated Dawn and me for this recognition, both through the Forum and privately. This was the first time I had ever entered a quilt into a show so this award was a total surprise and certainly humbling!
I was equally ready for rejection knowing that I had learned so much from the experience of making Memories of Sardegna. Along the way, I realized that the competition was with no one but myself, which turned out to be the best part of the journey: exploring unconventional techniques (like boutis and basket-weaving stitches), making lots of samples, always hoping that the image in my mind would translate onto fabric. I did the very best I could, knew at the end what I could do to make this quilt better if I remade it (yes, the thought of remaking did cross my mind!), but most of all, I had fun!
I hope that any of you on the fence about entering a quilt into a show will give it a second thought. I am grateful to those, and you KNOW who you are, who encouraged me and even prodded me to try!

Hi there,
Look what I did Friday! I just finished washing, drying and folding them. I think I want to throw them all on the floor again so I can fold them all and look at them. They all have such a wonderful color texture.
This is my first time dyeing so I'm happy that everything turned out ok. A friend from our local guild has a marvelous backyard all set up for dyeing. She does amazing dye work so I really was lucky. She had everything set up and provided for us. Fabric, dyes, soda ash, plastic baggies, measuring cups/spoons and written instructions. I really couldn't have messed this up! I had a fun time and love my 24 fat quarters.
Have a good week! genevaGeneva

I have been away for a while. I had 84 post to read! Dawn and Renata, congratulations on your wins. Rosemary, your mini quilt is great. I am amazed at how you can do work this small. Wendy, thanks for sharing your pictures from the FoQ.
Lotti, loved your pictures. Looked so restful. How far did you have to hike to take them?
Can't remember what all else I read, but will try to stay on top of things now.
