I like the AQ magazine. I also go to one of their shows (IA) and see the quilts. In the last 2 years, I've gotten tired of the magazine that mainly shows the winning quilts at all their shows. When the winners are about the same each show, it gets to be many repeats. Once I get to the show nearer me, I feel like I've seen them already!Originally posted by "BarbCA" post=135715AQ magazine do you like it?
Barb
The first issue for this year seems they are taking a turn on the format of the magazine and it won't just show the show winners each time. I'm hoping for good improvements. I keep my membership for the show discount, it is worth the membership to save on the show pass.
Having said that.... I'm way behind on reading my quilt magazines!!Jules~

Dawn I love your circles! Can't wait to see what you do with them.
Annis, that's a lot of quilting! Looking good.
Heather, I rarely if ever sew at night. It seems I lose part of my thinking cap when I do.

I do like the AQS magazine. But I agree that the issues that show the winning quilts can be repetitive. I like being a member of AQS also. You can get some good discounts on fabrics and books. I wish there was a show near me!
I didn't sew yesterday. Instead I took a walk with this little guy and walked the floor with his brother. Some days are just harder than others. The little guy had a tummy ache I think. But big brother was a happy camper!

Today will be no sewing either. I will spend the day with my mom.

Yes, Annis, that is a beautiful quilt! I really like the lotus blossom!
Geneva, such a sweet little face! Thanks for sharing that one!
Dorothy, great use of a great northwest panel!
Terrie, I will be hand appliquèing the circles. First, one to another, so when I am done I will have one big, floppy, whole unit. Then I will set that unit onto the background, and appliqué around the outer edges. I can then remove all background from behind the appliqué. That is how I did my jester for last year's challenge. Kind of a funky way to appliqué, but it works for me.

Thanks. I was surprised to see it when I signed on. It's one of the few quilts I made from someone else's pattern and the one that inspired my Confetti miniature quilt. I actually made it to show a different way of piecing the nine patch blocks with my seam guide and was going to teach a class but that never happened. The attic window quilt looks great! I need to make one of those.

Dorothy, I just received a customer quilt top in on Friday with the deer panel in attic windows! I thought it seemed so familiar to me... yes, from here. She wants it custom quilted so it will take a lot of time of thinking and revving my motor (much encouragement) to get that one!Jules~

I still have a bit of cutting to do for a mystery quilt but I'm nearly done.
I've finished sanding on an old treadle machine yesterday and plan to just finish it with a rub/oil today. I'm glad my husband brought the electric sander to the house and I could use that. Slick!!! :cheer:
I would like to use it as a table in our main living area to hold my featherweight. Then it will be nearby and upstairs for a bit of piecing in the dark nights.Jules~

I took a break, after making around 300 circles for my Hoffman Challenge, and did a quick mini for our LQS license plate contest. I hand painted the trees with Sharpie markers, and did confetti cutting for the rest. I love how it turned out. The best thing is, I did it quickly! Which is unusual for me!!! The public votes on their favorite. I'll know how it did by the end of March.
