Geneva,
Isn't it just disgusting when you pull something out of your bag and when that kitchen sink appears, it's loaded with all the dirty dishes that accumulated while you were off doing more important things? ALLH. That stands for A Little Luann Humor.
Wendy's gonna send me to the chicken yard pretty soon,,,,Geneva

Heather, I love the last layout that you did, and eventually sewed together! Your son is going to have a really great quilt. I think Cherrywwod fabrics (pretty sure that's what you said they were) has washing instructions on their site, for their fabrics. They are saturated fabrics, and so some can bleed if care is not taken. Be sure your son knows not to wash the quilt in hot water!!! :woohoo: hmy:
Geneva, love the baggy butts, oops, I mean the bag! Reminds me of a coaster at a restaurant we just ate at, "Does this make my glass look bigger?"

I will definitely be sure he follows washing instructions for the fabrics; they did come with a card explaining. Especially having lights next to darks, he'll have to be careful. Or more likely, for at least a while, I'll be washing it....I doubt it will get washed much at college, only on breaks home most likely! But, that gives a good 4 years of proper washing before he'll be in charge of it....probably a very good thing!
And Geneva, I also love that fabric of the little old ladies at the beach! What a cute find, and perfect for a bag like that!

Heather, love the quilt so far, it is looking great.
Geneva, that is a great looking bag, the fabric reminds me of the saucy postcards we have at seaside resorts here. I know what you mean about cable tangles, I have been planning on making myself a cable organiser bag too. What is useful now is that so many of the charger cables now plug into a usb socket, which means that you only need to carry one plug, which is bulky, for several cables - finally a plus for all the tech we now carry!
Currently packing up 100's of books for moving and we have run out of boxes very early on, so a trawl through my stash of dress fabrics (actually hand-me-downs from other peoples stash) to find fabrics I will never wear, and tearing them into strips to tie the books up - the cunning plan being that the strips are about 1.5"-2" wide, so that afterwards they are a reasonable width for scrappy piecing with :P DH plans on having the lounge emptied and the carpet up by the end of tomorrow hmy: inch:

Rosemary, good luck with moving all the books. That was a great idea to use the strips that can be used later too. We redid the bedroom floors a few years ago and had to clear out everything. All the closets too! What a mess. I won't have to do that again and I am glad. I am sure it will feel good to have the job all finished. Oh no, you will have to move all the books back. :silly:

Boy ! Am I sympathetic ! Try having belly surgery in the middle of new floors going down and add a few other
complications to boot !! But it is done now and looks great....but will be months getting everything back into place!!
And yours will be too I know !! Keep smiling !!  :P

Luann, was that you sitting in the row ahead of me on my last flight? I'm so sorry all my dirty dishes from my kitchen sink were making such a clanking noise. Thank you so much for not putting your seat back! B)
Rosemary, it's such a great idea to use reusable strips for your book transfers. And how extra nice that your husband will be emptying the room by today, on his own I presume.... We once redid the floors in our entire downstairs home. Had to move the frig, toilet, washer/dryer, furniture, baseboards and everything else. My husband suggested we just tip the house so everything would slide from one end of the house to the other. Good idea, not practical though! hmy: That was a 6 week period where I was stuck at home being a housewife. After all the work was done, which was so lovely, I told everyone that I was done being married to the house. I was resigning from my "housewife" position.
Beverly, my son bought me those tags for Christmas one year. I love them. You can probably go online and find some. If I think of the company I will let you know. They weren't very expensive.
It is a beautiful sunny day here! Yay!
I cut all the fabric for the duvet cover yesterday. Today I will piece it. It's a simple project, so hopefully won't take too long. (She said optimistically).
Here is a picture of my two grandsons. Dylan is 2 1/2 weeks old here and Parker is 2 years 4 months. The photographer is amazing!
Take care, genevaGeneva

Geneva, of course the photographer Is amazing! Her name is Dawn. All kidding aside, that is a great picture, to be cherished forever.
I'm not redoing floors, had the belly surgery a couple of years ago, and have all of my cables well organized and not mixing with each other. BUT, I am miserable! I am on day 3 or 4 (lost track of time) of a rotten cold! I need chocolates, warm fuzzies, hugs and anything else you can send my way! Right now the worst pain is behind my eyes. Which, for a quilter, is unacceptable! I WILL continue working on my Hoffman Challenge today! More drugs, please! inch:
Everyone, have a good day, whether it be sewing, playing with grandkids, helping the DH, or whatever! I pray none of you is in the path of the east coast storm!

Dawn,
I know what those miserable colds can do to a person. I had one last year when I returned from the Midwest vacation. I wanted my husband to put me in a box wrapped in heating blankets, load me on a plane, and ship me home to SC! I think he would have gladly done that, but the airports weren't enroute! Two days of miserable travel, not to mention that the first day was through an ice and snow weather EVENT. I woke up about 14 days after arriving home to finally wanting to get out of bed and go somewhere. We went to the beach, the sun warmed me to my bones and I continued to get better. I hope you get to that spot sooner than I did!
Storm missed us at this end of our state. In fact I'm on the screen porch, with a turtleneck tshirt, and a medium weight sweater, and the sun is shining, no breeze out here today. I'm in earthly heaven, if you know what I mean.
I'm sending you a big dose of bone-warming sunshine! Remember to take your Vitamin D at this time of year, even down here we can't get proper sun exposure for our needs during winter.
Feel better soon,

Oh my goodness.... all of you were busy chatting this weekend and I was piecing for me.
Geneva... your bag fabric is great! I have a large tote with what I call my b00by-sewing ladies. I forget the fabric designer name right now but clothes of red tomato pin cushions, etc. Everyone comments when I use it to take a quilt for show & tell or load up for a workshop.
I have been slowly putting my 24" swoon blocks together. I've gone from layout to oopss... missing one horizontal row of sashing attached at least once... but to at least rows with star posts & sashings.
The odd triangles pinned to the blocks are for the next row of border to finish the outer edge of mini stars. Another day, I'm thinking. Thankfully, DH hasn't stepped on any pins while this has been in the living room and hanging into the "path".
We also worked about 3 hours putting more tile in our bathroom. Together! And no one was injured in the joint venture. :kiss:Jules~

Yum, Lottie! Thank you! I needed something sweet after my chicken quesadillas. It was the easiest thing I could fix for dinner.
Luann, thanks for the reminder on the vitamin D. I do take a D supplement, but have been remiss since I have started with my Invisalign braces. Not sure why, but taking my vitamins doesn't always happen, since some of them are chewies. Actually, I've even considered one of those lights that people use when they live in areas with not much sun in the wintertime. Last spring I realized I felt better on days that I sat out in the sun on the deck for 15 or 20 minutes. I've been taking Airborn as a supplement also, this winter. I was sick way too many days last year. I pray this year is better! You stay well, too!
Dorothy, just wanted to let you know that I made, completed, and packaged up your row while I was well! There are no cold germs on it! (Knock on wood!). I am excited to think that you will get it tomorrow. At least, you should! Marilyn's took 4 days to get from Idaho to Montana, first class, flat. So, I'm going by that.
To all who haven't mailed theirs yet, it cost around $1.30 to mail the rows if folded flat and put into an envelope about the simple of one block. This is the price for going about one state away. Of course mailing onto Canada or across the pond, will be more! But you'all are worth it!

this was posted on Jamie Wallen's facebook page today (he was on TQS a few months ago). I thought it should be shared here - hopefully the link works. I have heard this message before in a different format, but this one resonated today. Hopefully someone else will find meaning in it too.

I can't wait to see how the graduation quilt comes out - It's looking beautiful!
The swoon blocks are beautiful as well. Are you going to add more pieced boarders or leave them plain for quilting designs? Either would be beautiful - always eager to see the decisions others make.
Everyone else your work is wonderful - I'm always inspired when I check in
Finally caught up for the weekend - notes done, laundry washed/folded and put away, children fed/bathed/put into jammies. Even had time to finish my rows for January and February this afternoon during nap time! (they will be headed to the post office the first part of this week - thanks for being patient!) Plan to snuggle on the couch with the boys and finish watching "Lego Movie" before bed then off to the sewing room for a little quality stress relief.
Enjoy the brief remainder of your weekend!
~ Jen
