I decided to do the Sailboat that Ricky demo’d on the show from an Antique quilt he owns. I’m thinking of adding a block of just rows of waves. I did my first sailboat block this morning.

10 down. I will make as many as 32 ties allows. Then border with a Batik fabric and might add other blocks made out of Batiks of Light houses.

First block down. Going slow and pinning, pinning, pinning. The flash on the camera caused my background to be different colors. It all the same. Tip. On another quilting show an artist was showing her work in silk. She suggested that the needle be replaced often as the the silk fabric has a different structure and the needle on our machines dull more quickly.

This isn’t my silk tie project exactly…ha.I still have some prep work on the remaining ties. My friend gave me some silk bow ties from her late husband. The pieces were so small I chose to make her a miniature quilt and the word bow tie pattern popped into my head. Ha. The outer prairie points are the pieces I had left. I wanted them to point out but the thickness said they were happy laying down. It will be a sweet memory for her. Thanks Alex for popping this into my head.lol.
