Suzanne I embroidered a lot in my twenties, always using a pattern. Then crounted cross stictch years later, and used a lot of letters then. How I came up with this letter was just googling hand embroidery stitches & clicked images. I don't do pinterest, but I'm sure there's a lot there too.

I did more work on my initial 'C'. If you click on the photo, it turns right side.
I am thankful for this project at this time of year. Just my husband and me, no kids. One gathering on Christmas day with hubby's nephew & sister, 8 total. Thank you Alex

Sandy F, I am going to have to try the #8 Perle Cotton. That is what Carole B uses too I think. I have 12 wt. Susan ClevelandOriginally posted by sandytn View PostThank you. I used Wonderfil Eleganza #8 Perle Cotton thread for the green chain stitched border. I used DMC Embroidery Floss for the flower and little blue flowers, 3 strands. I had never used the Perle Cotton before and I loved it. I'm afraid if I try the Perle Cotton for my flowers I may not go back to DMC and I have tons of it.
that just seems a bit too thin and #5 that seems a little too thick, except I really liked it for the colonial knot stitch.
I found a great new way to separate my DMC floss strands. I cut a piece of floss, clip a Wonder Clip on one end and
then take a hold of 3 strands in one hand and 3 in the other hand and pull. The thread separates and the clips spins around quickly.
When the separation gets to the bottom you just unclip it. When I saw Alex put the thread in her mouth and pull with
both hands, it made me think, you just need something to hold the bottom. Try it. I have never seen it any where but I am
now using it all the time. HelenW
