Not finished, but even though this is way outside my quilting comfort zone, I'm having a ball! I still need to add home, family, and friends symbols, edge stitch everything, and then add some minimal embroidery. The little log cabin block in the lower right corner is made from the same fabric I used in my first quilt, which was, of course, a log cabin. Thank you, Alex for your generosity, kindness, and great sense of humor. I look forward to every class!

Barbara 1259 I am planning on using decorative stitches instead of blanket stitch on the outside edges of the face & neck & blouse & not sure what I am going to do with the eyes,etc. I am going to use swirls on the big pieces of fabric but what stitch could I use on the face, neck & blouse if I don't want to use straight stitching? In order for me to use my decorative stitching as I have in some I will have to do the quilting first? I am confused.

I think you maybe asking the wrong Barbara? I’m Barbara1259 and I just saw your post...I think maybe you should be asking a different Barbara for advice..I think you want the Barbara that seems to help Alex with some questions.

What you have planed sounds really nice...I’m not much of a free motion quilter yet. So my face will be a lot more simple

Great advice from Barbara1259 to 2star. Try out a variety of your decorative stitches to find your favorite. Practice the look on scrap fabric, stitch before and stitch after quilting. Do what looks best to you.

This was the hardest project I've done in a long long time. I'm not an artist and I can't draw. I've never Googled so many body parts in my entire life. After getting lots of help from your downloads, Google doodles, and great ideas from the faces already posted, I finally finished my face. Now I need to quilt it. I'm going to watch today to see how you did yours, Alex.
