All the thinking can make you crazy with all the choices of fabrics and color. I decided to stop while I was ahead. The Bird was from fabric in my Stash.

Here is the face I am working on. I'm not sure it posted a few days ago as I cannot find it again. It has been great fun to create this piece!

Ok, trying again to post my "face." I hope it shows up this time. It has been great fun to create this project. Thanks, Alex.

I did some simple machine quilting, and I am onto the binding. Still don’t get mitered corners!

I am not happy with my quilting. I struggled with the tension and my quilt did not glide easy so I felt I didn’t have as much control. I tried to make her face look wrinkled but it doesn’t show up much.

Padma99, I went from hating bindings to loving them after implementing Sharon Schambers techniques.
She has a 3 part you tube series on binding technique. The series is called Binding the Angel, because it is a Angel wall hanging.
Best way to really understand what you are doing is to watch it thru totally. Go back and take notes on doing the miter part.
I can't stress how much I love her techniques. Hope you give it a try. HelenW

I've tried to lighten it up some. Hope it's clearer now. Also forgot to give my story. Top left going clockwise: I was in radio for years, my hair is for my boys (don't ask), I collect angels, the pointy ears - I was an original Trekkie, R for my husband, Randall and for myself, Rhonda, the patch for my Daddy WWII, I love butterflies this one is orange, love my flower garden, I also love to read, and last but not least my Mother taught me to sew. This was the most fun I've had in a while. Thanks Alex!!!!

Today my photo went in as an attachment. The trick is to hit insert after you add the file. Barbara told me that. But I discovered today that if you accidentally upload it as an attachment, you can click on it, say edit, and then hit insert and it will convert it to a photo we can all see without having to open your attachment.

Here it is. All I have to do is hand stitch the facing to the back. Of course, I can see so many other things I would add.... plus the quilting is simple, so I could get it done.
                                Too fun.
Here is an article I found a number of years ago on facing an art quilt. I find it a nice way to finish it off. http://faeriesandfibres.blogspot.com/2013/05/yesterday-i-told-you-i-was-making.html. No connection, just something I found.
