Learning from "The Master": Balenciaga Deconstructed
You might be as surprised as some of the students from the London College of Fashion as to what goes on inside a Haute Couture gown. These students were invited to investigate iconic garments by Cristóbal Balenciaga, "The Master" of haute couture, and "deconstructed his processes and revealed secrets of the making and construction using digital pattern-cutting technology." "Known as 'The Master' of haute couture, Cristóbal Balenciaga produced some of the most influential designs in the history of modern fashion. We invited students from the London College of Fashion to investigate iconic garments by Balenciaga, deconstructing his processes and revealing secrets of their making and construction using digital pattern-cutting technology. "
The exhibit, Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion, was on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum from May 27, 2017 until February 18, 2018.
