Featured Quilt - First Place Small Wall Quilts: Hand Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Well, maybe that's true with quilts too, as we like to provide you with a Featured Quilt (almost) every day. What if there were a way to combine the two? Enter, Chinami Terai and her award-winning quilt, Fruits. Her quilt won First Place - Small Wall Quilts: Hand Quilted (Sponsored by Martelli Enterprises) at AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah 2024. She says about her inspiration behind the piece, "This quilt is a wish for our daily lives to be as rich and fruitful as an abundant assortment of fruits." |

Make The Connection to Continuous Quilting
As a shop owner and professional longarm quilter for over 20 years, Dorie Hruska knew that constantly stopping to cut threads was time-consuming and interrupted her creative flow. Seeking a more efficient solution, she discovered an easier way—using connector designs that travel smoothly from one intersection to another. Dorie shows in our brand new show how connectors like waves, curls, and diamonds can create seamless patterns as you work across your quilt.

"Quilts with a Deeper Meaning"
Every year the Houston Quilt Festival puts up amazing exhibits highlighting different types and genres of quilts among the award winners. This year is no different, and Bob Ruggiero of Quilts, Inc. wanted to give you a sneak peek of one of the exhibits coming. He says, "One of the more interesting and thought-provoking exhibits will surely be “Soul Stories.” Curated by noted and innovative art quilters and instructors Luana Rubin and An Marshall, it features works by visionary art quilters who intertwine the narratives of human existence with a meaningful blend of myths, legends, archetypes, stories, spiritual influences, and science."

"The Calm Before the Roar" by Heidi Proffetty
Heidi made The Calm Before the Roar for the 2016 Cherrywood Challenge, the theme of which was The Lion King, and like most of her work was done in the mosaic style. She likes to annually enter the Cherrywood Challenge because it gets her to step outside of her creative box due to the limited color palette required for each challenge. Heidi's quilt was one of the ones chosen to be viewed as part of the Cherrywood 2016-17 traveling exhibit.
