Featured Quilt - A Recreated Reinterpretation

Sometimes you see a quilt in a book, at a show, or at a friend's house, and you just to Karen Lambdin after she saw a quilt by Cinzia White. Karen's quilt, Silk and Soul, was featured in the Machine Quilting category (Sponsored by BERNINA) at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival, and used Cinzia's The Storyteller's Sampler as her design source.

Karen says, "After I saw Cinzia White's Raconteur quilt and purchased her book, I made my smaller version with silk fabrics. I created my own blocks with my favorite techniques, including shadow trapunto, yo-yos, vintage pieces, and painting. I made this quilt about me; find my two dogs and my favorite activity, kayaking, among the blocks."

Get to Know Marge Tucker

The Fabulous Fiber Artist Shares Her Story

Meet award-winning fiber artist Marge Tucker, known for her abstract improv quilt designs. Though she began with traditional piecing, a workshop with Gwen Marston opened a new world of creativity that has inspired her ever since. Marge often finds inspiration in the shapes and patterns she observes while driving. She also enjoys exploring the versatility—and often under-appreciated potential—of quilting with a walking foot, pushing the boundaries of what this tool can achieve.

Learn from Marge, and Dorie Hruska, by watching her in Modern Dresden and Unmarked Walking Foot Quilting - Marge Tucker | Continuous Quilting with Connectors - Dorie Hruska.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Wear Your Quilt to Work

"Business Attire" by Sherri Lynn Wood

Business Attire was made entirely using men's shirts that had been flattened out. With the striped shirt being the focal point, which gives the viewer a sense of the body of the original shirt after it has been restructured, Sherri surrounded it with other oxford shirts to create the rest of the quilt. Viewed up close, one can see the buttons and tags of the shirts interspersed throughout. Sherri quilted the piece irregularly, using large unorthodox stitches to give the quilt a more open look.

The sound effects in poor bunny! add a lot to the experience. The little sounds when you pick up carrots or when traps spring into action make it feel more immersive. It’s small details like that which keep the game engaging. Even though it’s a simple browser game, it feels polished and well-made, which makes me respect the developers even more.
