Learn How to Use Color, Contrast, and Cohesion When Making Scrappy Quilts with Diane Harris

(Show 3305) Diane Harris, “The Stash Bandit”, joins Ricky to demonstrate her method for shaking up your stash of fabric scraps to create colorful, fun, and dynamic quilt designs with contrast, cohesion, and repetition. She then shares how working with just a single block can offer an infinite number of fabulous quilt designs and what lessons can be learned from what she calls "dog quilts". You’ll never look at your stash in the same way.

Diane Harris came to our guild on the north coast of California. It was so much fun having her and we all gained so much from her teachings. I loved watching this episode of Quilt Show. Thank you again Diane.

This is one of my all time favorite shows. I have been gravitating to scrappy quilts the last couple of years. I started cutting my scraps into 1 1/2, 2, and 2 1/2 inch sizes. Some days I just get out a particular size and start playing with them...

This is one of my all time favorite shows. I have been gravitating to scrappy quilts the last couple of years. I started cutting my scraps into 1 1/2, 2, and 2 1/2 inch sizes. Some days I just get out a particular size and start playing with them until I come up with an idea I want to stitch. It has been lots of fun and makes the resulting quilt feel like really my own.

Me again, Diane. I forgot to ask you if you use primarily variegated thread for machine quilting your scrappy quilts? Just wondering if you prefer them.
