My choice to reduce this to 75% of the original gave me trouble with this border! Reducing patterns for FPP is easy with a copier - it does the math! This was different as I used a calculator to find 75% of the original which has measurements of eighths. The resulting decimals did not convert nicely so much estimating and making of mock-ups started. Frustrations were already high as I had trouble with my printer AND my Keurig. Today I was actually able to make the border in much less time than I had spent yesterday. It did not come out the correct length so for now I have just added some background fabric to each end. Haven’t done the corner block yet.

Barbara T. It is easy to use graph paper to draw the 3 inch square as paper piecing. after printing add the 1/4 inch around the outside of the squares. It will be perfect.
Your 36 1/2 length should be 27 1/2 at 75 %.
Did you remember to do 75% on your last sashing before doing the pieced border sections?

Use a quality ruler to check each unit in the borders to find those that are slightly too wide. You may only have to fix a few to make the borders the correct size. In the LIVE broadcast I did last Friday I show how I "check myself as I go" to find any seams that are too narrow or fat--I want to find my mistake as soon as I make it, not after the border is done and is not the correct size.Originally posted by AmericanQuilter View PostThe center medallion is 36.5”. The side borders I just did are 36.7/8” and 36.6/8”. They look so good that I really hate to think about messing with them. Any work arounds?

Love the corner block.
This is #3 of my Game On. This will be a housewarming gift to my daughter and son-in-law. They play games and would be a great addition to their 3 season porch.
Lessons- I was warned about machine quilting (domestic machine) on solid one. So this is my small experiment with custom quilting. I have learned that every bobble will be seen on solids. I chose to do this smaller version to attempt better quilting. I am pleased with the results and it was fun. I am now thinking on my solid version I will hand quilt it ( it will just be with the current border we are working on so smaller). My print version I will domestic quilt it and plan on making the entire quilt,
I think I will enter this in our county fair and it will compete against Laurel Ridge BOM. Laurel Ridge is definitely more work and skill so should do well.
Next year’s entry will be the print and solid versions of Game On. We will see what happens. I so love to watch the judges marvel at the BOM quilts and also those that view the judging, I always have to explain the quilt after the judge finishes,
i like to do my own quilting and have continued to grow. I love do do custom quilting as I easily get bored.
Thanks!Linda H
Happy Quilting
