Marilyn, your husband's woodworking is beautiful and congrats on the new Singer addition!
Geneva, I hope your lovely table runner sells too and I've never seen such a cute tooth fairy tooth holder ever! :cheer:

Marilyn, I am confused. You show a picture of a very tall, yellow flowered plant, and then say the next picture is the plant in question. I think the second picture is a close up of the first plant, and I agree with Barb that it looks like a dahlia, not a trumpet vine. At least no trumpet vine I've seen. As to the 3rd picture, the plant with the white flowers..........is that the plant in question?

Renata, your HC quilt is so wonderfully unique! I hope the judge sees the time involved in doing it! I guess we will all find out on Monday. Unless, like their other deadlines, we wait a week longer.

Now I need to go back and read other posts. Just needed to comment on these two while I had a moment.

Thanks Renata...I really like to piece on these older machines as the feeddogs are closer and there's
better control on small pieces. Love your Hoffman project.!

The plant in the attachment is our tallest trumpet vine... and for gardeners out there a question :
We don't know the name of the plant in the next picture...2 yrs old and 8 feet tall...loaded with blooms.
          Anybody know what it is??

That's all for now....On to August ....fall is on the way !!
Sorry Dawn....I didn't get everything in one post and lost you along the way. There is an attachment at the end of the first post and it is the trumpet vine.
Then in the second post there is a full pic of the plant followed by a close-up of bloom and leaves.
The last pic with the butterfly shows a Syringa or Mock Orange....the common one that grows wild here in the NW.
          Hope that is better....an Nope...not a Dahlia.
Did I tell you that peacock was beautiful !!

            Hi Marilyn,
Here's a link to a false sunflower plant. Several to look at online. Grows from a cutting needs to be divided every 3-4 years. http://www.perennialresource.com/plants/general-perennial/2686_helianthus-multiflorus-sunshine-daydream.aspx

Okay, Marilyn........I still don't see a trumpet plant. Your first plant photo, in the first post, has a beautiful, singular flower. No trumpet shape there. But hey, I can learn something new.

Anyway, the yellow flowers all tied up, and standing tall......they are the plant in question? I still say they are a variety of dahlia. The buds are a dead ringer for a dahlia bud. Can you take some leaves and a flower to a local nursery, and get an identification?

Also, your husband's woodwork is exquisite! I love it when a guy has a creative hobby! Mine just bought a drone to fly. Scary!!!!

And, thank you, on my peaco.......wait! It is a hummingbird! At least it was the last time I saw it.

Geneva, stay safe! I hate going to bed when there is fire on the horizon! Very scary!

We call that vine with the orange trumpets a "trumpet vine" too.

Hi Ritzy ! Yes...and it is a darker orange than some. We have several large ones ...2 growing over arbors and a couple
others on old ladders ...Hummers love them !! BTW...How are you? and Whatcha ya up too this summer??

Thank you !! :woohoo: :woohoo: bpfred45 (wish I had a name!) You sure did know the plant ! I looked it up and sure enough...That is the
one. Several friends here will be pleased to know the name. It looks like while not rare here...not too common but very common
in your area and further east. I see in your profile your are in MI somewhere.
Thanks for writing and perhaps you will join in now and then.

Marilyn your husbands work is amazing - does he make scissor stands? I didn't know the name of your plant.
Geneva so pleased your mojo has returned - I knew it would - and your table runner and tooth fairy pillow are lovely. I think sometimes when our creative spark diminishes we get scared it won't come back, we immobilize ourselves, then out of the blue it fires back up it was just resting.
Warm wishes to everyone Pam (in Scotland)
