DocRuth, I have a drawer where projects go when you give up on them. Don't give up on yours. I started a dog tribute a few years back, and wanted to go way out on a limb withOriginally posted by "DocRuth" post=151928Hello! I'm late to starting my face quilt as I really struggled with constructing the face. So, I decided to make a tribute to our 4 Great Danes instead. It's not finished, and I don't have fusible behind every piece so there are pins in the photo because it's on my design wall. Also, I'm open to all suggestions. I'm not crazy about the grass bottom, and might create a sun or something for the top. Too literal? Thank you!

crazy colors, and I am usually pretty conservative. I got so frustrated it went into the drawer and this morning is the first time I pulled it out. A couple ideas might be to put the
names of your 4 great danes in the background on dog type items. A bone, a water dish, a dog house etc. If they have favorite toys that aren't too hard to draw, or google clip art dog items and you will get a ton of ideas. I took a real picture and printed it on June Tailor Photo transfer fabric with my HP printer, then fussy cut around it. HelenW

sbell2547, I use a tiny zig zag stitch. It it 1.0 in length and 1.0 in width. Match the color of the applique or use clear monopoly. On this white background I fused a white pellonOriginally posted by "sbell2547" post=151969How do you stitch down tiny pieces, e.g. eyebrows, pupils, etc.? My tiny pieces shred when I try to blanket or straight stitch around them. Do you use a stabilizer, a small needle, or some method I haven't thought of?
stabilizer on it because I did not want thread tail to show thru the white. Usually I use light weight tear away stabilizer. I have used it on some really tiny pieces on different
art quilts and it works well for me. Sharon Schamber and Caryl Fallert Bryer Gentry use it very successfully on their show quilt appliques. I use a 80 topstitch needle. HelenW

Liza,Originally posted by "Liza" post=151975I was able to change my avatar , but can’t figure out how to upload my picture into the forum ??
You hit reply topic, Write your message, just below that is attachments. Click add file. I put my file on the desktop. I choose it and it shows up in the little box next to attachments.
I then click Insert and that puts it in the message box, I click the defat box subscribe to take the check mark off so I don't get a lot of emails. Then click Submit. and wait, since I have DSL and it takes a long time for it to upload. HelenW
