Flange/Crumb Catcher

A Flange/Crumb Catcher is a folded piece of fabric that is stitched into a seam with the folded edge left loose where it will 'catch crumbs'. A Flange is made by cutting a strip of fabric 1/2" plus double the size of the flange you want visible.  If the flange is to be 1/4" visible - the strip should be 1/2" plus 2 times the 1/4" visible flange = 1 inch wide.  Fold the fabric in half, iron and add it between the fabrics in the seam.  The flange can be made as long as needed with seams on the diagonal. A Flange is the perfect solution for a flash of color and contrast.
