Textile Talks: Water FEATURED - Quilt Collector Jack Walsh

The Textile Talk this week spotlights a new exhibit at the International Quilt Museum of the quilts collected by Jack Walsh entitled Water FEATURED. The exhibit "includes pieces commissioned by Walsh to celebrate his love of water, inspired by his career in water utilities and the proximity of Lake Michigan in his childhood and later, by the waterfalls of Watkins Glen, New York." Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 2 PM EDT.

From the International Quilt Museum:

"Ardis B. James Curator of Collections Carolyn Ducey and New York quilt collector Jack Walsh discuss Water FEATURED an exhibition of commissioned quilts in his collection by well-known quilters now on exhibition at the International Quilt Museum. Water FEATURED includes pieces commissioned by Walsh to celebrate his love of water, inspired by his career in water utilities and the proximity of Lake Michigan in his childhood and later, by the waterfalls of Watkins Glen, New York. Walsh requested that the artists use the water theme, but otherwise gives no guidance, encouraging the artists to work freely in their own artistic style. The resulting work encompasses many of the trends developed in quilting in the last decades: threadwork, hand-dyeing, digital printing, machine quilting and embellishment."

This Textile Talk takes place, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. Future installments are held online at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific) each Wednesday.

The video will be recorded and will be able to view later.
