Textile Talks: Archeology of the Body - Artwork by R. Mertens, presented by SAQA
Presented by SAQA: "R. Mertens triangulates between the poetics of electricity, the production of the hand and artifacts of eschatology. In his Artwork, he explores the temporal nature of Fibers and Sound focused on a type of saudade that the writer Manuel de Melo states as “a pleasure you suffer, an ailment you enjoy,” or the melancholic joy of knowing that nothing lasts forever. Specifically, “Archeology of the Body" is a series of work that examines the body as an archaeological site. What do we hold in our bodies that we chose to remember and what are the things we can't forget?" Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 2 PM EDT.
