The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Floaters" by Louisa Smith
Do a puzzle of Louisa Smith's quilt, Floaters.
Floaters is a colorful quilt, highlighted by thread embellishment and an interesting border. Louisa says the quilt is a combination of two things, a back layer of pieced squares alternating between horizontal and vertical directional batik fabric, and a top layer of circles and crosses creating a Hugs and Kisses pattern. The top layer is accented by Dupioni silk, which Louisa says makes the quilt much more vibrant due to the bright nature of the colors, some of them hand dyed or painted by her because she couldn't find just the right color she wanted.
