Featured Quilt - First Place Appliqué at Houston 2024

A Rose for Sue - A Tribute by Joanne Sorrentino won First Place - Appliqué, Sponsored by TheQuiltShow.com itself, at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024. Quilted by Rose Bell, Joanne says, “This is my tribute to the late Susan H. Garman, the designer of this pattern. Her hand appliqué and her designs were impeccable. I love hand appliqué, and I loved doing every block in this quilt. It took me 1 1/2 years to complete the top, and it will be an heirloom for my family. I am working on two more of Sue Garman’s quilts and plan to do more.” The design is Sue Garman’s Bed of Roses and features machine piecing, hand appliqué and quilting.

If Thanksgiving was Plated by Artists

Who Says Playing With Your Food Isn't Art?

If Halloween is less than two weeks away, that means Thanksgiving isn't too far behind. Do you know what you're going to serve for dinner? Is it going to take all day to cook? Whatever you're having, San Francisco-based artist Hannah Rothstein may have spent a little bit more time on her meal. Enjoy these incredible images of how famous artists would plate their Thanksgiving dinners as imagined by Hannah. Makes you think about how they would design a quilt.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Very "Good" Puzzle

"Good Vibrations" by Carol Moellers

Carol says of Good Vibrations, "Tranquil Moments is my Spring 2024 Island Batik Collection. It is starting to appear in quilt shops now. This pattern, Good Vibrations, is made using two 10″ stacks. Using simple shapes and arranged in a unique way it makes a stunning wall hanging, which is sure to turn heads."
