Description:
Artist Statement: “This is my tribute to the late Susan H. Garman, the designer of this pattern. Her hand appliqué and her designs were impeccable. I love hand appliqué, and I loved doing every block in this quilt. It took me 1 1/2 years to complete the top, and it will be an heirloom for my family. I am working on two more of Sue Garman’s quilts and plan to do more.”
Road to California 2024 featured a quilt made in tribute to someone near and dear to The Quilt Show's heart, Sue Garman. Sue was a guest twice on the show and was the designer of SEVEN of our exclusive Block Of The Month's. The quilt, A Rose for Sue - A Tribute by Joanne Sorrentino with quilting by Rose Bell, "pays homage to the late Susan H. Garman's iconic 'Bed of Roses' design, showcasing a labor of love and meticulous craftsmanship." We so appreciate this beautiful quilt, as we're sure all those who knew Sue would too.
