Why Do Quilters Have So Much Fabric?

"Quilters have a lot of fabric. That is a natural consequence of the hobby, but why? There are many cheeky comments online about “hoarding disorders”, but that is not the real reason. The real reasons we have so much fabric are varied."

The top five reasons quilters have so much fabric, according to C&T Publishing, are:

1) It was on sale.

2) It is for my 401F, “fabric retirement account”.

3) Inspiration everywhere

4) It was just pretty.

5) Stash-building

Click Here, or the photo below, to find out why C&T chose these reasons.

The fabric below is the Super Bloom Fat Quarter Bundle by Laundry Basket Quilts. Click Here to order it from The Quilt Show Store.

When i started quilting I was told by my fellow ladies, that i needed a RESOURCE center. I have been resourceful ever since.

I have trouble resisting kits. They almost always have more fabric than I use. Sooo, more for my stash. I'm starting Becky Goldsmith's quilt in her new book Hand Sewing and I think it will help me somewhat reduce my stash.

The real reason is because we can buy fabric faster than we can sew it.

My mom, and possibly many others , had always said, 'she who does with the most fabric wins!'. She would be so proud of me....She taught me sew when I was very little. Helped me pick out fabric for my first quilt which included many cross stitch...

My mom, and possibly many others , had always said, 'she who does with the most fabric wins!'. She would be so proud of me....She taught me sew when I was very little. Helped me pick out fabric for my first quilt which included many cross stitch squares of mountain wildflowers. Unfortunately she never got to see the finished project....
