See A Dress Made of Tea Towels

Cait Trantham had an idea. She wanted to receive tea towels that represented where people lived and turn them into something beautiful. Her goal was the fifty states. What she got was that THREE TIMES over, plus over FIFTEEN countries. See the magnificent dress that Cait created with these towels and how she brought her community together doing it.

From Cait Trantham:

"It’s hard to put this project into words. I asked you to send me a tea towel that represents where you live, to make into an art piece that would bring together our entire community. I had hoped to get all 50 states, and we achieved that 3 times over. Not only do we have every state, but over 15 countries. This dress is you. It’s me. It’s all of us. It’s upcycling on another level, and hopefully an inspiration and representation of all that what we can do together! During this process my family moved from Hawaii to California, and it was emotionally the toughest military move to date. We lived in a hotel for 6 months, and it was a huge challenge. Thank you for still believing in me and this project! We did it with a broken heart, and healed along the way. More detailed photos and video are on the way, so you can play I Spy. Love you, mean it."

I've always been told I'm very creative, but this takes my breath away. I sew. I quilt. I never would've even thought of this, let alone execute it. It is absolutely breathtaking.

What an idea and what a dress. Beautiful. I see my country, Canada , on your hexi train. Also, I noticed your cookie jar on the shelves. We have the same cookie jar received as a gift 66 years ago at a wedding shower.
