Bisa Butler on Creating New Narratives Through "Portrait Quilts"

From CBS This Morning"Artist Bisa Butler has been called a modern-day Griot – but instead of using words to tell stories, she uses stitches and cloth. Her quilts have graced the covers of magazines and she created the striking illustration for the soon-to-be-released book "Unbound," the memoir of activist and Me Too movement founder Tarana Burke. fortunately the artist and her amazing art was brought to my attention from another party and I was able to view all her quilts as shown in the Chicago Art Institute, I am sure if you go to their site or Bisa's own site you will be able to enjoy her work. Good Luck!

Only a truly beautiful soul could produce these amazing pieces of art. The colors and the people just reach out to touch you. Please have this woman on The Quilt Show so that more people will know her amazing talent and vision.

I saw this segment when it aired on CBS this Morning Saturday, and I hoped Bisa Butler would also be seen on The Quilt Show. Kudos to The Quilt Show. Bisa's quilts are so masterfully created. I love her use of color and shading!
