How to Draft a Quilt Block with Marsha McCloskey | Museum Tour
(Show 1203) Author and teacher Marsha McCloskey loves complex blocks, and brings piecing techniques and tips to the International Museum of Folk Arts in Santa Fe, our location for this "star-studded" episode. Marsha demonstrates how to draft and piece a miniature Ohio Star block using her bias-strip-piecing method and shows how to stitch super-precise half-square-triangle units. She also reveals what she calls "stupid sewing," shares a great use for leftover blocks and scraps, and gets a big surprise from Alex. As an added bonus, Marsha C. Bol, director of the IMFA, shares the history and vast collection of folk art items housed and displayed at the International Museum of Folk Art.
