Creative Quiltwork using Unusual Materials with Nina McVeigh | Mary Fons Family Quilt History
(Show 2505) Nina McVeigh, BERNINA Educator, has contributed over 115 BERNINA tutorials to The Quilt Show. Nina shares her personal quilts and their stories starting with her granddaughters Christening Dress done in Heirloom sewing. Nina uses the longarm to quilt on 270 Lb watercolor paper which she has Alex sprinkle with Brusho and spray with water to add color. She then does ruler work quilting on leather - lots of great ideas for "old" purses.
Nina and Ricky are at the sit down longarm to share more ruler work and how to add beading to a quilt. Each of the techniques covered use different sewing machine needles, all of which fit the BERNINA line of domestic and longarm machines.
Mary Fons, daughter of Marianne Fons of Fons & Porter, joins Alex and Ricky to talk about her travels from State to State to capture the best quilt stories for a monthly magazine, Quiltfolk.
