Who is Judith Phelps?
I’m Judith Phelps, and I live in Battleground, WA. I create intricate and detailed art quilts using a variety of techniques, and I have a passion for creativity. Throughout my life, I have experimented with various crafts, but I especially love the challenge of art quilting and the process of working with fabric. I often incorporate a combination of techniques such as appliqué, paint, thread painting, piecing, and 3D objects to produce unique and eye-catching pieces.
I find inspiration in the color, beauty, and diversity of God’s creation, and I enjoy working with small quilting groups that challenge me to improve my quilting skills. My approach to quilting is methodical, starting with multiple idea drawings and thinking about color choices, value placements, and design choices before transferring my design to fabric. I strive to make each quilt from start to finish and find satisfaction in creating detailed, beautiful works of art.
