Presented by SAQA: "Yoshie Tokutake uses repurposed indigo fabrics in her strip-pieced art quilts. In this Textile Talk, we visit her studio and gallery in Matsumoto City, Nagano, Japan. “I never imagined this life for myself," she says. "I just couldn't waste the fabric, so I kept creating with it, and here I am today." Yoshie is interviewed by Naomi Ichikawa, chief editor of Yomiuri Quilt Time Magazine. This interview was recorded in Japanese and will be shown with English subtitles." Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 2 PM EDT.
Patricia writes, "I had a dream—to include a little packet of Okan Arts Indigo Seeds in every Japanese fabric order going out from our shop at the beginning of the new year."
Patricia Belyea of Okan Arts did something that all quilters would love to do, she created her very own dye! As Patricia explains it so succinctly, "Here’s the gist of my story: I grew a crop of indigo plants and extracted indigo pigment from their bright green leaves."
