The Ten Most Expensive Fabrics - #6 Bison

Our most expensive fabric journey this week brings Capt'n John face-to-face with our number six fabric, Bison. What makes Bison such an expensive fabric to use? Click through and find out.

Here is why Bison is the #6 Most Expensive Fabric:

"Bison fabric is a unique type of textile that is made from the fur of bison, an animal that used to roam the North American plains in large numbers. Today, bison fabric is still made in the United States, Canada, and other countries where bison are raised for meat, but it is a luxury material that is not widely available.

So, what makes bison fabric so special? For one thing, it is incredibly warm and soft, which makes it ideal for use in clothing and accessories like hats, gloves, and scarves. It is also highly durable and resistant to water and wind, which makes it perfect for outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping.

But why is it so expensive? For starters, bison are not easy animals to raise or harvest. They are much larger and stronger than cows, which makes them harder to handle and requires specialized equipment and expertise. Additionally, bison fur is not as abundant as other types of fur, which means that it takes more time and effort to harvest enough of it to make a single garment or accessory.

The cost of bison fabric varies depending on the quality and quantity of the fur used, but it typically ranges from $50 to $150 per yard.

So, what are some fun facts about bison? For one thing, they are the largest land animal in North America, with males weighing up to 2,000 pounds. They are also incredibly fast and can run up to 35 miles per hour. And despite their size and strength, bison are surprisingly agile and can jump up to six feet in the air.

As with all uses of animals, it is important to make sure you are buying from a source that treats the animals ethically."

Stay tuned and come back next week to find out what the #5 Most Expensive Fabric is.
