Who is Renée Fleuranges-Valdes?
Renée Fleuranges-Valdes is an internationally known fiber artist recognized for the use of vibrant colors and intricate machine quilting in her representational style artwork. As a storytelling fiber artist, Renée’s art is grounded in her love of life. She draws inspiration from her rich multicultural background and the strong females who have influenced her along the way. Renée’s goal is to share life’s joy in her art, introducing viewers to the many ways our experiences shape who we are.
For 20+ years, Renée’s art has been displayed in shows, museums and galleries. Her work can be found in both public and private collections. She has received awards for mastery of both technique and artistry. A published author, Renee Fleuranges-Valdes curates exhibits, teaches, and speaks internationally. She has taught at Houston International Quilt Festival, Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK; and many guilds and groups across the United States.
Renée joined IBM after graduating from Syracuse University’s Utica College, where she enjoyed a long career in the software industry. Born and raised in southern New York, Renee relocated to South Carolina after retirement, to focus on her art. She is married and has two adult children and two young grandchildren.
