Who is Eileen Williams?
Eileen Williams is an artist who uses fabric and thread as her medium to create stitched and quilted images inspired by nature. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she attended college at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Upon graduation, Eileen joined the Navy and moved to California. There, she met her husband, a Marine Corps Officer, and together they have lived and traveled throughout the United States and the World. Now retired, Eileen and her husband live along the Crystal Coast of North Carolina where she is joyfully engaged in her second career as a quilt artist.
Eileen captures images photographically from her travels and her coastal environment and uses them as inspiration for her art quilts to create original, one of a kind artwork. She has won numerous awards locally and nationally. She has been published in quilting magazines and books, filmed for TheQuiltShow.com in her home studio, and her work has been displayed in numerous exhibits both nationally and internationally. Eileen's fiber art creations are in many private collections, and public settings, to include the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Duke University's School of Nursing, and in the permanent collection of The National Quilt Museum, Paducah KY.
Eileen is a Juried Artist Member of Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc., which is a non-profit international organization, dedicated to promoting art quilts. Her work can be viewed at the Pea Island Gallery, Salvo, NC; Nags Head NC, on her web site.
