Who is Ashley Nickels?
I’m Ashley Nickels! I am a writer, teacher, and artist living in San Francisco, California. Growing up in Michigan surrounded by quilters and makers, I made my first nine-patch at age eight– and was designing my own bags by high school. I spent the first twelve years of my career as a classroom teacher in Spain and San Francisco, teaching both English and Spanish literature and language. In 2013, I took the leap and started my own business, and since then I have designed a unique patent-pending Pop-open bag, taught quilting classes all over the country, and written articles for a variety of publications. These days you can find me teaching both in-person and online quilting and sewing classes to all ages, writing vignettes about my life and my journey, and constantly looking to connect the creative dots.
