The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Lucy's Poppy Quilt" by Meg Cox
Do a puzzle of Meg Cox's quilt, Lucy's Poppy Quilt.
When Meg Cox' husband passed, it was devastating to her, but even more so for her granddaughter Lucy, who was eight at the time. To help both her and her granddaughter cope, Meg made Lucy's Poppy Quilt, which was her first memorial quilt. All of the letters that spell out "POPPY LOVES LUCY 4 EVER" are made from Meg's husband's shirts, except the letters that spell "LUCY", which are made from a bathrobe. Deciding that a quilt made from his shirts didn't capture the sentiment of love enough due to Lucy's difficulty processing the loss, Meg felt it necessary to convey the lovely message directly on the quilt itself.
