Featured Quilt - First Place American Patchwork & Quilting Log Cabin Challenge at QuiltCon 2023
Concentric by Betsy Vinegrad won First Place in the American Patchwork & Quilting Log Cabin Challenge at QuiltCon 2023. While it may appear simple in design and execution, Betsy says that looks may actually be deceiving for her quilt. "Concentric squares, rectangles and circles give this little log cabin a modern vibe. The layout is more complicated than it looks. The starting square is split in half diagonally and is actually not in the center as a traditional log cabin. In order to maintain the pattern, there are sashing strips surrounding each block. It was foundation pieced and quilted on a stationary machine."

"Timeless Tales" by Cathy Franks
Timeless Tales showcases Cathy Franks' love for nursery rhymes and fairy tales. For research, she went out and searched for all the different fairy tales she could find. On the quilt itself, she retold each one in little vignettes, drew them on acetate, projected it up on a wall, and created the quilt. It is all pieced using a freezer paper technique, with a lot of the fabric featured being white fabric that Cathy painted using paints and Tsukineko Ink. You will be amazed at what you see.
